Ten Asian airlines are aggressively recruiting pilots in the United States.

For the next two days, the companies will focus their efforts in South Florida.

More than 1,000 pilots registered for the All China Job Fair, which is being held in the old Pan Am Building in Miami.

Experienced pilot Doug Lister was at the fair bright and early Thursday morning. With more than 30 years of flight experience, he's looking for new opportunities in China. He spent most of his career flying for American Airlines.

"Hopefully, there are other airlines that can appreciate the experienced pilots," Lister said.

With so many cuts at his current company, he feels he has no choice but to find work elsewhere.

With recent economic explosion China has experienced, it's estimated the country will need up to 18,000 new pilots within the next 10 years.

"There is a pilot shortage in China," said Ron Yank, of Shenzhen Airlines. "So, it's a good opportunity in the U.S., since U.S. airlines are cutting jobs and people are looking for jobs. We can get good pilots here."

The salaries range from $14,000 to $16,000 per month.

The job fair is open to everyone, but the companies are looking specifically for experienced pilots.
